Internationally acclaimed local author Colin Thompson, who has won a series of awards for his writing and illustrating, will be discussing his writing style and the writing process, his publications and their origins.
This event will be held at Bellingen Library on Tuesday June 4 from 5pm to 6pm and is aimed at children from ten years to adults.
Colin has published over 70 books, mostly for children and young people, and also produces beautiful illustrations for the books as well as for his very popular jigsaw puzzles.
Colin's awards include the Australian Children's Picture Book Award in 2006 for The Short and Incredibly Happy Life of Riley. His works include the very popular Floods series and he was awarded the Aueralis Award for his novel How to Live Forever.
His bestselling jigsaw The Bizarre Bookshop is in the library on show and everyone is encouraged come in and help complete the jigsaw.
On Saturday June 8 from noon to 1pm, the library will be hosting an Indigenous Story Time event. Gumbaynggirr storytellers Michael (Micklo) Jarrett and Buddy Marshall will present a session for young and old. Michael Jarrett is a renowned storyteller, passionate about teaching the Gumbaynggirr language.
The library is currently hosting a display of a large selection of the titles written by the authors appearing at the Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival. These titles will be available for loan at the completion of the festival. Plus from the week commencing June 3rd there will be a display of artwork relating to the festival from Bellingen Public School.
