Kath McPhail showed what a true champion she is by winning her 7th Singles title at Urunga last Thursday but only just easing out hot challenger Helen Hoffman.

For most of the match Helen had a comfortable lead, at the 16th end by nine shots, but undaunted and unflustered Kath eased her way back until the score stood at 24 all.
Helen held the shots on the last end till Kath put down a magnificent final bowl to clinch the match by the narrowest possible margin: 25 to 24. Congratulations to both players (pictured) on a fine display of sportsmanship and lawn bowls.
Good luck to our Grade 2 Pennant side and also to the Mid North Coast District sides Park Beach, Nambucca Heads and Macksville in Grades 1, 3 and 4 who are travelling to Ballina next week to compete in the regional Pennant playoffs.
