Phil only just retired from his work a few weeks ago.
Phil has been a longstanding executive committee member and player at Urunga Football Club. It was his enthusiasm and drive that amalgamated the club into one entity in 2007, as back then, there was a separate "Seniors" and "Juniors".
He drafted the original amalgamation document which became the club's current constitution and played a critical role in the club's growth, generating all sorts of grants and remaining a key executive committee member for years.
Phil has been a legendary supporter for the club. His zest for life and dedication to soccer was exemplary.
Phil has been a legendary supporter for the club. His zest for life and dedication to soccer was exemplary.
Phil did everything he could to grow and support Urunga Football Club, including dedicating himself to resolving long drawn out issues over the grounds through the "Recreation Grounds" committee.
Phil loved his football, whether it was watching a game, playing, or simply helping out around the club. Urunga Raiders are a special connection for his son Jim, and Phil took great pride in watching and being part of the club's many successes.
Apart from his massive contribution to Urunga Football Club, he was a keen mountain and road bicycle rider.
From 2011 he was the secretary and backbone of the Nambucca Valley Cycle Club and the cycling fraternity are recognising him this week in the "Festival of Phil", with a number of planned rides to show support to his son Jim and his brother Peter who are in town.
There will be a celebration of Phil Fogarty's life on Wednesday April 24 at Nambucca Heads Island Golf club starting at 2pm.
The aim is to have a relaxed gathering with short speeches and memories to be shared about Phil. Speeches will commence at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, Phil's family would like to offer people the opportunity to donate to the Nambucca Valley Cycle Club, as he was passionate about cycling and deeply involved in the club.
A donation page has been set up here: https://www.gofundme.com/celebration-of-the-life-of-phil-fogarty
Our thoughts and sincere condolences go to Bev and the family.
Urunga Football Club is humbled and blessed to have been a part of Phil's life.
