These changes will enable greater access for library members and visitors and provide more consistency between library branches.
Both Bellingen and Urunga libraries will open at the earlier time of 10am from Tuesdays to Fridays, which is in response to requests from many library members, particularly by people who shop early or drop their children at school.
This change will also align the Bellingen and Urunga Library opening times with that of Dorrigo Library.
Another significant change will be the opening of the Bellingen Branch throughout the former lunch break closure on Thursdays and Fridays.
This change will be welcomed by many Bellingen library users who have previously been required to leave the library during the staff's mandatory lunch break.
The Bellingen branch will now offer new uninterrupted opening hours of 10am to 5.30pm from Tuesdays to Fridays.
Finally, minor changes to the Dorrigo Library hours will also apply with the removal of the late 5.30pm closure on Friday, taking the closing time back to 5pm.
The library will instead remain open all day on Wednesdays with no closure for a staff lunch break.
They are summarised as follows:
Bellingen Library:
Closed on Monday
Open from Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 5.30pm
Open on Saturday from 9.30am to 12noon.
Dorrigo Library:
Closed on Monday
Open on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 5pm
Open on Wednesday from 10am to 5pm
Open on Saturday from 9.30am to 12noon.
Urunga Library:
Closed on Monday
Open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 5pm
Open on Thursday and Friday from 10am to 12noon, and 1pm to 5pm
Open on Saturday from 9.30am to 12noon.
These changes are the result of a NSW State Library review for future planning and an internal service review of staffing and opening hours, and have been achieved with a minimal increase in operational costs.
