The Repton Rural Fire Service took time out on the weekend to welcome a couple of the shire's newly-installed, centrally-updated fire danger risk signs.

The new signs at the corner of Perry's Rd and at the entrance to Mylestom are solar powered and updated in real time from The Fire Control Centre in Coffs Harbour as conditions change.
Brigade Captain Matt Charles said the signs were very impressive at night and a welcome addition to RFS communication channels.
"We all love the nature that surrounds our communities," he said, "but live with the need to remain aware of the high fire danger that comes with our beautiful surroundings.
"The local brigade has campaigned over some years for the signs and hopes that the community makes a habit of checking fire conditions as they return home each day.
"Together with our Facebook page, the signs will help us to engage and communicate with the communities we support."
