Guests attending from VIEW clubs in our region included Bonville-Boambee, Urunga, Nambucca/Macksville, and Korora View. Also attending were members of the Bellingen Australian Red Cross, Bellingen CWA and Bellingen Lions Club.
Our guest speaker was Andrea Cross from Coffs Harbour Business & Professional Women, who talked about some of the initiatives of this national women’s organisation. The BPW is an advocate for women in the workplace and is trying to bring more awareness to the issues of women suffering from the trauma of domestic violence and women wishing to breastfeed at work.
The BPW is also advocating for women who do not have enough superannuation to support them in their retirement. Through childcare and looking after elderly parents, women often do not have enough money for their old age.
VIEW stands for the Voice, Interests and Education of Women. It is a leading women’s volunteer organisation that empowers women to have their voices heard on issues of importance for the future wellbeing of Australian society.
