“We had lots of interest from the mums of Surf Groms,” instructor Joe Rattray said. “We’re now offering Waves For Women, our ladies only learn-to-surf program at two locations – Urunga and Coffs Harbour.”
Casey from Coffs Harbour, whose six-year-old daughter took part in the Surf Groms program, said: ‘Watching how happy and enthusiastic she was has inspired me to give it a go. When I heard about the women’s lessons I was excited and willing to give it a go too."
Joe said Waves for Women is suitable for all ages and abilities.
“Whether you’ve never surfed before, used to surf, want to improve your skills or just want to have fun with your friends, this program covers it all,” he said.
The one-hour lessons will start at 10am on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Hungry Head.
Lessons will also be held at 10am on Wednesday and Fridays at Coffs Harbour.
Rash shirts, wetsuits and surfboards are provided.
Cost is $30 per person for a single lesson, or five lessons for $125. Bookings are essential and must be made at least one day before the lesson.
