“The Action Group is especially keen to hear from Dorrigo residents about their experiences with the current housing system,” organiser Rose West said.
“We would like to understand the housing needs of the Dorrigo community, their aspirations for the future and solutions they think could work locally.”
The Action Group is a community-driven group of local people committed to creating more affordable housing across the Bellingen and Nambucca Shires.
Mainly volunteers, the group believes that working together is the best way to create change.
Everyone is welcome to come to the meeting this Thursday, January 24, 10am-12.30pm at the Dorrigo Community Centre, 34 Hickory Street, Dorrigo.
The Action Group will also brief the meeting about their current projects, including their work on developing Tiny Homes, an older women’s housing co-op and a Community Land Trust.
Rose said the group was keen to promote constructive conversations and partnerships that focus on finding local solutions to the affordable housing crisis.
“We know that having an affordable and secure home changes peoples lives and ensures our communities remain vibrant, fair and inclusive places.”
