For coordinators Rob and Michelle Stockton, now is when they can reflect on how it all went and thank all those whose efforts made it all happen and keep happening.
“The students who are the guides for the duration, photocopying, taking lunch orders, helping people, helping me, they are the ones who are really awesome,” Michelle said.
“They do everything, often before I’ve even thought of it, and they never complain – I really appreciate them so much.”
Efforts to make the entire event more accessible have also proved successful with one blind camper returning of a second time, as well as others with various disabilities.
“We don’t have any disabled parking here at the high school but we do have a parking service for the disabled,” Rob said.
“People can ring us and someone will come and park their car for them and then return it when they are ready.
“It is the personal touches that people really appreciate … we really are like one big family, who get together to enjoy a reunion once a year.”
Both Rob and Michelle thanked local retailers who extended their hours to support campers and also the Chamber of Commerce for its support.
“And of course our excellent tutors – they were all so flexible about any changes that had to be made. It was a wonderful week.”
