“A sister and brother band who catch up across the globe to tour, sample tequila, buy old peoples’ clothes, write, make shapes and crank sexay 90’s bangerz”.
And he goes on …
“As we grew longer in the tooth and life took us to Berlin and Melbourne as professional musicians, we realized it was a sick idea to tour and write songs together, because we missed each other and it was deliriously easy after a whole lifetime of the biz.”
And so B!tch Please began … offering snazzy beats, using loops for voices, violin, guitar and trumpet to create rich tapestries of sound that resonate to their 1990s “rage” addictions.
It’s the first time the pair have been home and playing together in this incarnation… and they are pretty excited about it.
“We both studied music with some amazing teachers in Bellingen including Luke Rhodes, Tony Dawson, Karin Braidwood, and Paul Bulanyi,” Will said.
“Bellingen has always had a very supportive musical community and we were extremely lucky to have had this growing up. Our mothers, Elizabeth Scott and Ann Phelan, have been massive influences in our lives with their countless hours of generousity, assistance and mountains of love, I’m sure the Bellingen community already knows this!”
Will went on to study classical and jazz guitar at the Sydney Conservatorium and is now living in Berlin and touring with Thezapshow.com and thelips.de.
Esther studied jazz at Monash University and is a member of Melbourne bands Tek Tek, and Don’t Thank Me Spank Me .
Together they have toured the east and west coast of Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark and Ireland, playing hundreds of shows around while exploring the sights, smells and tastes of the world.
They will be at the Bellingen Brewery on January 12 ($12) and at the Valla Headland Café on January 19 ($10).
