While the gusts were nothing compared to the winds that whipped the shire on Thursday night, they were still pretty strong and the air temperature was surprisingly chilly for a summer night.

Even so, a good-sized crowd turned out to enjoy the singing, the food, the company and the sense of Christmas being just around the corner, with many staying till the end to watch the fireworks lighting up the sky over the Kalang and Bellinger rivers.
