Essential Energy crews will today continue with its rectification efforts to restore power to approximately 12,000 homes and businesses across its distribution area, including at least 4000 in the Greater Taree and Great Lakes areas, 350 in parts of the Port Macquarie-Hastings area and over 700 in Bellingen and surrounding areas.

Regional Manager North Coast, Ross Berry, said “crews worked through to about 8.30pm last night and were able to restore power to approximately 21,000 customers across the North Coast’s electricity network. Crews were back on deck at 6.30am this morning and will work as quickly as safety will allow to get the power back on to as many customers as possible.”
Ross said “The biggest cause of the power interruptions has been the damage from vegetation impacting the electricity network due to high winds associated with the storms.”
Additional crews and equipment from across NSW are now assisting local Essential Energy crews to repair the remaining damage for customers from Thursday’s storms. Helicopters will continue to be used to access and repair parts of the network which are difficult to access due to terrain and vegetation.
