Now that the appointment of Peter Glyde and Marion Campbell has been finalised, the preparation for 2019 can officially begin.
Peter and Marion will form a formidable combination of experience, passion and commitment. Peter has led the Ladies League Tag team to consecutive finals appearances and 2019 looms as another great opportunity to showcase the immense talent of this squad.
With the majority of the squad recommitted for next season, the ability to close out tight games will prove a catalyst for success in 2019.
The appointment of Marion Campbell to the playing/coaching ranks is a huge win for the Bellingen Dorrigo Football Club, as Marion has hinted at retirement for a number of months. Marion is a central figure in the Ladies team and bring the on field experience to the design of the team structure heading into the 2019 season.
To the ladies credit, immediately after the completion of the 2018 regular season, they competed in the ‘women’s tackle tournament’ in Coffs Harbour, which was a resounding success. The selection of Bellingen’s Tina McRae, Rachel Devine and Simone Osland in the 2019 Group 2 Women’s Representative squad is the icing on the cake that this team and these players deserve.
The Ladies team have been the success story for Bellingen-Dorrigo Magpies for the past few years and a premiership is not far away. The Ladies will start pre-season training, along with the other grades, on January 8.
Special thanks goes to the support staff of the Bellingen Dorrigo Football Club for season 2018. The support of Paul Carter, Ronnie Miller, Tanya Crawford, Luke Rose, Wade Davis, Sissiel Tuhi and Mark Freebairn is well received and appreciated by players and committee alike. Special mention must go to Dan Matthews who was vital in the running of the Ladies Tackle team during the recent tournament in Coffs Harbour.
