So get ready, it’s going to be an action-packed two and a half days.
There will be all the fun of a great Australian Agricultural show but with more than a touch of Dorrigo magic.
This year’s show will feature an enlarged grand parade, wood chopping, a major beef show, pavilion sections, feature events, ring commentaries and much more.
The theme for this year’s show is ‘Back in Time’, which means anything old: machinery, vehicles, telecommunications and clothing.
Why not dig out those old platform shoes or fluorescent leg-warmers and join in the fun of the “Back in Time” fashion parade.
A major show highlight will be the Dorrigo Show Rodeo on Friday night starting at 7pm. It’s certain to be an exhilarating night of almost non-stop bull riding.
There are many new sections, a big one is the Fruit and Veggie Art with generous prize money
“Really creative people can try their hands at Fruit and Veggie Art and we have a special challenge for men to cook any variety of cake and win a prize,” says Show Association President, Sally Duckett.
This feature is sponsored by:
The show will host a special display by the Australian Tent Pegging team demonstrating equestrian and combat skills.
There will also be kids whip cracking and, probably unique to Dorrigo, a Lime auction after the Grand Parade.
There’s a chance to try mountain bikes and the kids will love the pet show. Don’t miss the Tug-o-War, it’s sure to be a barrel of laughs.
John Peppercorn will also be performing. John has an amazing repertoire and always gets the crowds dancing.
Dorrigo’s Showgirl
Two young women with strong ties to the Dorrigo Plateau and life on the land have vied for the role of Dorrigo Show Girl.
Tahnee Beelitz and Jade Cochran faced a three-person judging panel earlier this month with Tahnee winning by a narrow margin.
Tahnee is a member of a local farming family and works for Ray White Rural. With her partner, Jesse, she also runs beef cattle and helps manage a Blueberry operation.
Jade is studying Rural Science at the University of Armidale and works weekends on local dairy farms.
Tahnee will represent the Dorrigo region at the next level of NSW Showgirl judging to be held at Narrabri on February 23, 2019.
This year’s show will be officially opened by former society president, Mr Bruce Block.
Mr Block is a long-term beef farmer and has been an active supporter of the Dorrigo Show for many years.
