Firstly, President of the Coffs Coast Freemasons Association Phil Robertson presented Urunga CWA President Margaret Grice-Little with a new defibrillator for the rooms.
He said the CCFA’s objective was to assist the community to function better. Then he added how pleased they were to be helping the CWA, a helping group started in 1922, and hoped the defibrillator was never required!
Now the CWA Rooms are ready to cope with basic first aid, immediate ‘stroke’ and heart attack care.
Local photographer Peter Lister attended and recorded the presentation. Pete then had the ladies move outside for a group photo, along with a short video to be used within his Australia Day video.
Then President Margaret and Secretary Annette laid a wreath and held a “minutes’ silence” at the Memorial Park in quiet reflection of World War 1.
Annette has had a quick introduction to the role of CWA Branch Secretary and Delegate. Treasurer Alison Keen has new signatories and books started, and Megan Sinclair has been busy planning our cultural growth.
It appears the branch can expect a busy year in showing the area what Urunga CWA stands for.
A reminder that new members are welcome. Young mums and grandmums – you can join your daughters as well.
Junior Members are becoming popular again throughout the state as a mother-daughter combo. Handicraft and Quilters groups are open to any women or girls to attend without joining the CWA. Costs are your own materials and $4 towards morning tea and electricity.
Next meeting will be December 14, followed by the Christmas Party at the Urunga Providore.
