The theme of the competition was ‘What do you love about your neighbourhood; What makes you smile in your street’?
Entries were judged by the mayor, Cr Dominic King, and local photographers Jay Black and Gethin Coles.
Judges looked for photographs that creatively captured moments or places from everyday life and which reflected the unique spirit of the shire.
The idea was to gather photos of locally loved places and things to illustrate the new Growth Management Strategy and to help create strategic planning character statements.
“Understanding what is valued by the people who live here can help us to guide future planning priorities and decisions,” Cr King said.
The prize winners are:
1st Prize - $500 for ‘Clouds on the Water’ by Taff Cooper-Williams
2nd Prize - $250 for ‘Surfs Up at Third’ by Paula Whiteway
3rd Prize - $100 for ‘Bellingen Dawn’ by Pingala Walsh
Random Selection 1 - $50 for ‘Urunga 3’ by Mike Bradberry
Random Selection 2 - $50 for ‘Love Kalang River’ by Toni Southwell
Random Selection 3 - $50 for ‘Yurt on the Hill’ by Fiona Crosskill
The Mayor congratulated the winners and thanked everyone who took the time to share their love of our community by entering the competition.
