What does a flourishing performance arts community look like in Bellingen? What are the stories we can tell? Who are the people around the shire with an interest in theatre? What are the arts and culture skills we collectively possess as a community? What other skill sets have we all got? How can we work collaboratively to help develop a sustainable theatre culture in the Bellingen Shire?

These and other questions are the focus of an upcoming event in the Nexus Gallery’s ‘Sunday Bites’ programme. Anyone interested in discussing possibilities for how they believe we can work together to create more theatre throughout the shire is welcome to join Elizabeth Routledge, Justin Brow and Victoria Rowland for an open dialogue of ideas.
A reading of a brief, cheeky play written by Elizabeth Routledge will introduce the proposed ‘Tight Shorts’ competition where a number of 10 minute plays would be presented spanning all age groups, stories and genres.
Playwrights, actors, musicians, performers, producers, directors, sound technicians, stage designers – anyone with an interest in arts and culture is welcome to join us. Direct theatre experience is not necessary, just an interest in rampant thespianism.
Sunday November 18, 3.30-4.30pm. Nexus Gallery, Old Butter Factory, Bellingen.
