Bellingen High School 16 years girls’ futsal team is looking forward to the Australian Championships, having proceeded undefeated through the North Coast Combined High Schools Futsal competition.

They hope that they can continue their golden form at the championships, which will be played in Queensland from Friday November 9 to Sunday November 11.
As the comp is a knockout format, every game you win brings you up against other winning teams.
The girls played three rounds of the competition on the Mid North Coast Zone Day held on October 23 in Coffs Harbour.
They took on Grafton High in the first round, demolishing them 17-1 and followed up by defeating South Grafton HS 18-0 in the second round. This put them in the Mid North Coast Zone Final against Coffs Harbour HS where they made no mistakes, smashing them 11-1.
This resulted in them having to play in the North Coast Championship on October 30 against the winners of the other three zones. So their next opponent was Melville HS from Kempsey in the Lower North Coast Zone. The girls dominated early getting up four quick goals and then relaxed a little, still winning convincingly 9-2.
The final game against Mullumbimby HS saw a dominant display of teamwork and skill to win the North Coast Championship an amazing 16-3. So in five games, this talented team scored 71 goals for and only 7 conceded.
The 14 years girls also competed in the competition and came out Mid North Coast Champions after a bye in the first round then defeating Coffs Harbour HS 6-1 in round 2 and South Grafton 6-3 in round 3.
The competition was a little stronger at the North Coast Championships where they went down to Camden Haven HS 6-1 in round 4 and lost narrowly to Wollumbin HS in the consolation final 6-5. This was a great effort for a very young team who is made up of only three 14-year-olds, four 13-year-olds and three 12-year- olds playing against a majority of 14-year-olds.
