The head of Bellingen-born cricketer Adam Gilchrist in Maam Gaduying Park is sporting a luxuriant stick-on moustache today, presumably added by someone wishing to draw attention to the start of Movember.

The annual Movember campaign that challenges men to grow a moustache is designed to spark conversations and raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health.
Unlike Gilly, whose mo has flourished in all its glory overnight, men begin Movember on the first day of November (today) clean-shaven and grow only a moustache for this month.
Participants get friends, family, or colleagues to donate to their efforts to change the face of men’s health, with other possible activities involving men and women committing to get active and take the Move Challenge or hosting an event.
The Movember Foundation’s goal is to stop men dying too young.
As the only global charity tackling men’s health issues year-round, the foundation focuses on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
Since 2003, the support of more than 5 million men and women has funded over 1,200 innovative projects across more than 20 countries.
