Agriculture/environment, international, cookery and handicraft were all left unfilled. These will be managed within the branch. The branch will work with the Urunga Public School with International Day and other events.
This year, the secretary will email minutes to those with an email and pin a print-out on the notice board so each can ready prior to the meetings. All reports will now be accepted/seconded as one after each officer has presented. Please ensure Annette has your email.
Margaret will be contacting the Cedars restaurant in Bellingen regarding a Christmas Lunch after the handicraft meeting on December 14. Please contact Margaret if attending.
New members brought along many different ways they can be involved with fund-raising.
Thanks and reminders to all that Emily at Urunga Providore (old Liberty) sells muffins each Tuesday morning, with proceeds to the branch. Emily can’t always attend the meetings, hence her way of contributing to the branch and community. She also accepts customers back who break her iced coffee glasses!
Other ideas include approaches to businesses and markets for stall space. Megan will manage a Facebook page with updates and reminders.
Rhondda Spencer discussed this year’s Rural Women’s Day celebrations on the 15th. With so much happening this year, there has been insufficient time to plan a branch picnic. Next week at handicrafts, we rural women will be celebrated at morning tea.
Discussion about the building’s heritage led on to Rhondda and Alison sifting through the museum archives, to find old newsletters and projects, on the early history of the branch. Lots of copying to fill in next week. Next year it will be pulled together again in a booklet.
To all users of the CWA Hall, please be aware there is a small first aid kit available in the kitchen storage cupboards. Approaches are underway towards a basic defibrillator. Injury report forms from CWA of NSW are available for completion following injuries/illness treatments. Pain relief is not available from the branch. Panadol etc must be self-administered. Aspirin is available in a sealed unit for emergency requests from a medico or ambulance.
Special thanks to Peter Lister for coming over and taking the group photo. His support has been very advantageous to Urunga and Urunga CWA Branch.
Next meeting 9am Friday November 9. Thanks everyone for a great fun-sharing meeting.
