Under the inspiring leadership of the delightful Jo Pierce, the choirs performed singly and jointly at St Margaret’s church on Saturday as part of the Bellingen Fine Music Festival.
Sohum Women’s Choir has been active for more than four years, while the Bromantics has been going for 18 months.
Both sing “a rich and varied repertoire of world music, folk songs, social commentary and songs of love and peace”.
There’s also some that are just for fun, like the men’s rendition of the beer-flavoured Do Re Mi.
The women's choir meets on Tuesday nights: 6:30pm - 8:30pm at St Andrews Uniting Church, Hyde St, Bellingen and the men’s choir meets Wednesday nights from 7pm to 9pm in the same place.
The choirs welcome new members, but after the excitement of getting ready for their Bellingen Fine Music Festival performance, they are on a two-week break, resuming October 16.
