The 32nd Bellinger Eel Fishing Championships will be held next week, the first week of the school holiday, Monday, October 1 to Sunday, October 7.

There will be an information afternoon this Sunday at 5pm at George Edmunds Reserve, beside the river at the north end of the Lavenders Bridge.
Hooks, aerators and information will be available for competitors.
This is a Catch and Release Competition and prizes will be given for the ‘liveliest’ eel daily as encouragement to keep the eels in good condition for release.
The weigh-in will be held at George Edmunds Reserve Park at 5pm every afternoon.
The Australian Record Eel stands at 11.65 kg and is held by Jai Tennant since 2009 … that’s one big one to beat!
This popular event is mainly for children under 16 years, however there are prizes and trophies for adults as well.
The final presentation and free barbeque will be held at Connell Park on Sunday, October 7.
