Just as winter sports attire was packed away plans were being made to start the summer season for the Dorrigo Club. Registration and competition dates were set and a review of equipment was made with the need for uniforms and servicing of grounds equipment noted.
After an approach from the Club three Dorrigo businesses have rallied to support the Club financially and kick start the new season.
Barry Shaw from Components Cafe was first to come on board with a generous donation towards the Dorrigo Club juniors. The Dorrigo Under 12s are reigning premiers in the Coffs Harbour competition after spectacular weekly results at the end of last season.
The increased numbers of junior boys and girls meant a replacement uniform order was due and Barry's support will fully cover the cost of new playing shirts for the Dorrigo Under 12's team. Barry has also offered the Club a Components Encouragement Prize for the juniors with a milkshake or hot chocolate up for grabs each week.
The senior teams won't be left out with new competition shirts also being ordered thanks to the financial support of Northern Agriservices.
Dorrigo branch manager Anthony Dawes sharpened his pencil in the budgeting department to get the funds underway and then drafted the support of major suppliers Incitec Fertilisers and Aus West Seeds who were happy to come on board and match the funding.
The Dorrigo Club has fielded senior teams across divisions each year, with many players having a rural background, so the support of Northern Agriservices, Incitec and Aus West is apt.
Home games for the Dorrigo Club will continue to be played at Rowe Oval with offseason grounds work and upkeep of the wicket being managed by Craig Wilson. An annual servicing, update and repair of the grounds equipment was made by Aaron's Small Engine Repairs putting in a number of hours to give everything the work and attention to detail that was required.
Craig picked up the equipment and was notified by owner Aaron Gilkison that he would donate his time and waive the bill as his way of supporting the Dorrigo Cricket Club - a very generous offer from a single operator small business.
Thank you to Barry, Aaron and the Northern Agriservices team who have generously supported the Dorrigo Cricket Club and community.
