Come and take a peek ‘behind-the-scenes’ at the station’s studios and enjoy a fun-filled day with a trip down memory lane, going way back to 1983.
To make the day a truly ‘community’ experience the team has organised plenty of activities including live music on the deck throughout the day featuring Peter L Barry, Tim Porter, Scott Collins and more, a chance to record your own Happy Anniversary message in Studio 2 and also meet the voices behind the mic.
There will be a silent auction with event tickets, hampers and more are up for grabs plus raffles, a sausage sizzle and very special limited edition 35th Anniversary t-shirts for sale.
A photographic trip down memory lane will reveal how ‘mud-brick radio’ came into being back in 1983. This nostalgic journey through the decades will have some locals reminiscing over their favourite music and perhaps even identifying younger versions of themselves and their friends through old photo albums, while others may be inspired to become a presenter and make their mark on 2 Triple B’s future history.
The day is also an opportunity to show your appreciation to these volunteers for sharing their time, music and vital community information with us each week.
Grab something from the barbeque, sit awhile on the sofas and soak up a little acoustic music.
Kye Ruigrok, Chairman of 2BBB is brimming with excitement.
“We’re really looking forward to these celebrations … some of the historical material that has surfaced here is priceless,” Kye said.
“We’re hoping we can have OB 1 (our little blue broadcast caravan) join us as well – always a crowd pleaser!”
Transmitter update:
Unfortunately, the birthday present most of the Triple B community had been hoping for – a full repair to the Dorrigo transmitter – has been delayed another few weeks. A new aerial is under construction, due to be fitted by mid October.
This will restore full power to our currently scratchy signal on 93.3FM. You can still tune in through 107.3FM or via the website on the TuneIn app on your smartphone.
Put it in your diary: 2BBB’s 35th Anniversary Open Day, 9am to 2pm, 52 Wheatley St, Bellingen.
