When you see a large number of super heroes at Coffs Harbour’s Jetty Foreshore, don’t mistake it for a Marvel comics convention. It’s much more important than that.

Coffs Harbour is hosting a Step UP! for Down syndrome event on Saturday, October 20 and dressing up as a super hero is just one of the activities planned on a day dedicated to improving the lives of people with Down syndrome.
Children’s entertainers The Smileys will be performing and there’ll be free jumping castles and face painting, free food generously provided by the Coffs Harbour Pacific City Lions Club as well as other food and market stalls.
Also performing will be The Red Hots, a band where all members live with a disability and an appearance by Mrs Claus.
Raffles with some great prizes will also be drawn in a bid to help raise funds to increase the available resources needed for people with Down syndrome in the region.
October is Down syndrome awareness month and this Coffs Harbour event is the only one of its kind in regional NSW.
While the day is about fun for all, Step UP! Is also about bringing people together to talk, enjoy activities and entertainment while also raising funds and public awareness of the diversity within our communities.
It’s also about a walk.
Those that come along to the Step UP! For Down Syndrome are invited to take part in a short walk around the market area of the Foreshore to mark the start of the event at 10am.
So put on your capes and masks and be a super hero helping Down Syndrome NSW.
While just being there and showing support will be greatly appreciated, every dollar raised by Step UP! helps DSA NSW to provide support, services and information to empower people with Down syndrome and their families.
