They loved it so much that they didn’t hesitate in promising to make the trip back to Bellingen for our next camp.

Hebel block carving involves sculpting a 3-D shape from a block of raw Hebel stone, which is basically aerated concrete that can be carved with wood working tools.

At the last course, Tim Robertson from Urunga said he hadn’t taken the softness of the stone sufficiently into account initially.

“On my first attempt the head came off the owl,” he said.

 All the Hebel stone is sourced from a local company and the costs are kept to a minimum . Most campers attempt two major projects. The more intrepid take on three projects. As a bonus Adrian also includes a half day on drawing pencil portraits of his class.

Denise has a problem. She has so many things that she can do that it is hard to pin her down to a single area.
