With the field heavy, coach Kim Barker instilled the need to play to the conditions.
Coach Barker has been working hard with the girls at training, focussing on attacking play, including chipping the ball over the keeper’s head. This certainly paid off with three of the four goals soaring high over the head of the Sawtell keeper.
Some beautiful ball work by co-captain Lauren Rigney set up the first goal with a perfect through ball to winger Molly Odgers who chipped the ball over the keeper. Fellow co-captain, Sam Barker was next in line to send goal No.2 home, making no error in capitalising on a free kick after being taken down by a Sawtell defender.
The early goals instilled added confidence and with this, Sawtell were hit with a ‘second storm’ as the next two goals rained down. A superb long range lob from Rigney was followed by a rocketing hit from Emma Webster.
Sawtell managed to escape their scoreless demise with a goal from a dot shot but were unable to outplay a show stopping Bello defence who swiftly cleaned up any scoring opportunities.
The girls now progress through to the grand final against the Macksville Stingers at the Coffs Harbour International Stadium this Saturday.
