Run by the Coffs Harbour Uniting Church, the soup kitchen operates solely on the support of the wider community.
A recent generous donation was a great reminder that some of that support comes from beyond Coffs Harbour itself.
The small but active congregation of Urunga Uniting Church have continued their tradition of assistance to the Soupie with a hefty donation of food and monetary support.
Soupie chairman Phil Crofts noted that such generosity keeps the Soupie going in its mission of providing a nutritious meal five days a week.
“This donation is particularly thoughtful as it includes a mix of groceries that will be used directly in our kitchen, as well as non-perishables that are the basis of our Crisis Food Packs,” he said.
He added that some of the food could not be fresher, such as the home-grown vegies that had only been harvested that day.
“I must say that these truly have been given with a great generosity of spirit,” he said.
