Extra time was looking likely, but then Northern Storm’s Otis Barney took the ball in the 95th minute.
The Raiders defence desperately tried to stop Barney’s run but sadly they left his teammate Jamie Kennedy unmarked and available to finish the job.
Kennedy put the ball in, breaking hearts in Urunga and stealing a win at the very last minute.
The 3-2 loss pushes Urunga Raiders out of the contest for the 2018 grand final.
In the women's football, Raiders 1 played a solid game against Boambee Eagles 1 at Ayreshire Park, holding off the competition leaders 0-0, sending the game into extra time.
Unfortunately for the Raiders, the Eagles scored and go directly to the 2018 Women's Division 1 grand final.
The Raiders play Woolgoolga 1 in the final this weekend for their chance to face the Eagles again in the women's grand final.
The Sawtell Stingers were too good on the day for the Raiders 2 team in the Women's 3rd division semi final, being defeated 4-0.
In the junior division the U12 girls played first against the Coffs Coast Tigers. Urunga started well and applied most of the early pressure but the Tigers defended well and denied Urunga a goal.
A supportive crowd was on hand but the Urunga girls couldn’t break the Tigers defence and it was the Coffs team who eventually opened the scoring. Despite some resolute Urunga defence, the Tigers, filled with confidence after their first goal, went on to win the match 3-0.
The U13 Boys team also started confidently against the Northern Storm Troopers and went into half time 1-0 up after a corner kick found the head of Jett Guest, who directed it accurately past the keeper.
It was looking positive for a Raiders win until a clumsy clearance from a Storm corner eventuated in an equaliser.
Jett Guest cemented his claim as man of the match late in the second half with a brilliant long range goal which sailed over the Storm's keeper and into the net.
The 2-1 result sees the Raiders progress to the next round of the finals.
