Just when you thought it was safe to come over the bridge, roadworks have resumed at the intersection next to the Bellingen Post Office.
For the rest of this month, people should expect traffic delays as the footpath, kerb and guttering is removed and replaced from the driveway between the Bellingen Post Office and the Police Station down to the new pedestrian crossing on Bridge Street.
As shown in the video, the plan is to also install gardens wrapping around the corner and a pedestrian refuge so that people will not need to cross all three lanes of Bridge St in one dash.
Council says that access, including disabled access, will be maintained to the Post Office.
Some pedestrian diversions will be in place while works are carried out as the corner of Bridge/Hyde Streets will be closed to pedestrians wanting to cross Bridge Street.
The works are expected to take approximately four weeks to complete.
