This week he leaves Bellingen to play in Berri, South Australia, where he will be representing NSW in the Open Men’s competition.
The selection is done at state championships, which about 27 teams in three divisions attend. It’s a three day tournament and brings the best of the state players together.
Justin has played for Grafton for his representative hockey and although their result this year wasn’t the best, it certainly didn’t show in the quality of hockey played or affect his selection.
“This is the sixth year I’ve been selected and I’m looking forward to playing in Berri, somewhere I haven’t been before. Hopefully we can make the winning streak continue.
“I travel to Grafton to play most of my hockey and have done so now for eight years. City Bears is a strong and great club to play for and their support has been amazing. “
Bellingen Men have also returned this season with a team in the Division 1 local competition and at present they are on top of the leader board.
With players Mark Freeman, Tim Anderson, Kieran Marshall, Byron Auld, EJ Hourigan, Dean Herbert and brothers Brendan and Justin Alford, just naming a few, they can hopefully stay on top with finals fast approaching.
