It is no wonder the Riverside Holiday Resort in Urunga is a North Coast Tourism Award finalist – tucked below the golf club overlooking the river, it is an idyllic base for a seaside holiday.

Manager Rebecca Beaton said this was the first time the resort had entered the awards and it was certainly exciting to find themselves a finalist, alongside Dorrigo’s Heritage Hotel.
The resort has 32 self-contained units, quite a few of which are wheel-chair accessible, and is right next to both the Kalang River and the Urunga Golf Course, and only a short distance to pathways that lead to both the Boardwalk and now all the way to Hungry Head.
“You can go all the way to the waves in a wheelchair from here,” Rebecca laughs.
Not only that, there is also a hoist for wheelchairs poolside and easy access barbeque areas.
“We are planning to add another eight units at the back and some of those will be easy access with adjoining units, so people can come on holiday with their carers.”
Add to all this three big trampolines as well as kayaks and paddle boards and there really is something to keep all family members happy and occupied.
Coming from Armidale herself, Rebecca said a lot of guests come from western NSW … “I actually target a lot of our marketing out there – they really need to have a break with plenty of salt air!”
We wish Rebecca and her 10 staff lots of luck next Wednesday night.
