Waste Not Bellingen members have been busily chatting with the many cafes, restaurants, and pubs in town to help them make the transition to a Plastic Straw Free life.
So far 27 out of 28 establishments have agreed to use no straws or paper straws only for the festival weekend, with most of them pledging to continue this after the festival.
Many of the cafes are also offering discounts to festival goers who bring their own reusable cups when ordering a takeaway drink.
Waste Not Bellingen has made it easy for festival goers to identify which venues are participating and how, by creating an “Ethical Bello Business” sign. So have a look in the windows for that sign and let the businesses know that you support their ethical practices.
Supporting businesses are:
Amelia Franklins, Bellingen Village Bakery, Bellingen Brewery, Bellingen Gelato Bar, Black Bear, Brush & Twine, Butlers Pantry, Butter Factory Café, Cedar Bar, Corner Store, Diggers Tavern, Federal Hotel, Fennel Seed, 5 Church Street, Hearthfire Bakery, Hyde, IGA, Little Red Kitchen, Perfect Pizza, Popla, Purple Carrot, Qudo, Swiss Patisserie, Thora Store, Tuckshop, Zaatar, and the Bello Winter Music festival market.
