The long-serving United Hospital Auxiliary (UHA) Dorrigo Branch member won the prestigious Volunteer of the Year Award at the event.
Nita has committed 60 years of volunteering to the Dorrigo Multi Purpose Service. She has served as a member of the UHA Dorrigo Branch Executive for 43 of those years.
In 2017, Nita became the first member of the Dorrigo Branch to receive a Life Membership award from the United Hospital Auxiliary of NSW.
Nita has been a community champion in various capacities over the years, as co-owner of Dorrigo Pharmacy and through her membership on various local committees. Nita has been instrumental in attracting new volunteers to the local UHA branch.
Dorrigo MPS Nurse Manager Lynn Forsyth was thrilled to see Nita’s dedication and enthusiasm recognised at the Awards night.
“Nita’s contribution to this facility has resulted in significant enhancements to patient care and comfort and increased availability of specialised equipment,” Ms Forsyth said.
“Her capacity to unite a group of community members to the common cause is unsurpassed.
“It is Nita’s dedication, energy and support that inspires others to volunteer and ensures the continued growth of the Hospital Auxiliary in this community.”
The Mid North Coast Local Health District thanks Nita for the many years of support she has provided to Dorrigo MPS staff and patients, and to the Dorrigo community.
