The annual Bellingen High School Athletics Carnival was held May 31 and June 1 in fine and sunny conditions. Participation was high and colourful skirts in house colours were popular.

The first record to fall was the 12 years girls 200m when Yasmin Ball smashed a 42-year-old record by 1.26 seconds, running a 28.74.
Yasmin went on to break the 12 years girls Triple jump record by 12cm, jumping 8.29m.
Sophie Boyd ran the 14 years girls 800m in record time of 2.36.87 to take over 6 seconds off a 20-year-old record.
There was one more record to fall with Dane Cross taking over a minute off the 1500m Walk event, completing a great walk race where he lapped all other competitors.
Age Champions on the day were hotly contested as you nearly had to go in every event to enable you to amass the greatest number of points.
