After morning tea we were entertained by some of the members of the Hungry Head Ukulele group. The group played a great selection of songs and the co-ordinator of the group, Vanessa Nugent gave us a short but informative talk on their instruments. Many of us had assumed until then that the Ukulele was a standard instrument, and were interested to learn that there are different types and sizes of Ukulele.  

Our thanks also to Craig Warman and his staff at the Golf Club for the enjoyable roast lunch that they provided.

Bellinger Valley Day Club is open to all senior members of the community and offers social support and friendship to older people who are still living in our community but who are unable to attend more active programs. Many Day Club members believe they are healthier, happier and more active due to their involvement in their Club. New members are most welcome. So if you you want to have fun, a friendly chat, and enjoy morning tea and a light lunch, please join us every Monday (except public holidays) from 10-2pm in the Senior Citizens Centre, Hyde Street, Bellingen. Free transport is available within the town area. We invite you to come one  Monday to see if it is something you are looking for. New volunteers are also most welcome and have the opportunity to become involved in rewarding work and make a real difference in their local community.

So far this year the club members have enjoyed several additional activities including an outing with lunch at the home of one of our volunteers to celebrate seniors week, and an informative talk by Dr Olivia Bell on the importance of good nutrition.  At the end of May, Clayton Sipple from Angel Care Meal on Wheels will speak to the members about a long established and valuable service. Later in the year the local Fire Brigade will also talk on fire safety, including the importance and operation of smoke alarms.
