The twilight celebration is taking place at The Point, James Eather Way in north Bellingen on Friday May 18, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
OzGREEN and the Office of Environment & Heritage are inviting volunteers, partners and members of the community to bring a torch and come together to mark the one year anniversary and hear how the project has progressed.
Speakers include professional ornithologist Peter Higgins, who will share his knowledge and enthusiasm for ‘twitching’ plus tips and tricks for getting to know the local bird life; environmental scientist Peter Serov, a water bug expert who will explain what the project data is saying about the health of our rivers; and terrestrial ecologist Pete Knock, who specialises in the analysis of bat calls and will be using special ultrasonic detection and recording equipment to show the hidden life of bats on the Bellinger River.
