Kevin is a familiar sight at ANZAC Day parades and both Kevin and Moira regularly attend primary schools, nursing homes and community events on behalf of the RSL.
Kevin donned his uniform and told the stories of the military items from World War I on display which included two life-size figures in full military uniform, light horse gear, teapots and tin hats, posters, books and even a rifle used in the trenches.
Kevin is a walking encyclopaedia on military history and a steady stream of visitors throughout the day asked questions and listened to his stories and explanation of all the military items on display.
Council’s General Manager, Liz Jeremy thanked the Franklins, adding “Our community are fortunate to have such passionate and knowledgeable people who are willing to give up their time to ensure that our young people can learn about our history and understand the sacrifices of war.”
