The BU Festival is aimed at sending a strong message to all young people to just ‘Be Yourself’.
The slogan for the day, created by the youth week youth committee, is ‘why fit in when you were born to stand out’ reinforcing the message of celebrating individuality.
The BU Festival includes activities for the whole family as well a whole day of live music on the main stage. Activities include jumping castles, photo booths, bubble soccer, kids’ activities, music, a skate clinic and the announcement of the ‘Youth of the Year’ awards, and much more. There will also be a free barbecue.
The event has been organised by Mid Coast Communities along with a specially formed ‘Youth Week’ youth committee and a number of services including Galambila, Ready Mob, Key Employment Youth services, Headspace, Wesley, Interrelate, Coffs Harbour City Council and ETC.
Local services will be on hand to provide valuable information for community members, as well as WIRES and the Fire department.
Mid Coast Communities would like to thank the Commonwealth Bank in Toormina, Galambila Health Service, Coffs Harbour City Council and Woolworths Toormina for all their support.

Background:
Youth Week began as a NSW Government initiative in 1989 and has since grown to be a celebration of young people in every state and territory across the country. It is organised by young people, for young people, in communities across NSW and Australia. Following the success of the NSW Youth Week program, Youth Week became a National event in 2000. National Youth Week is jointly supported by the Australian Government, State and Territory Governments and Local Governments.
As a part of youth week, for the very first time, Mid Coast Communities’ Groundworks Youth Centre will be awarding three local young people and one local youth professional with an award for Coffs Harbour Youth of the year award under three categories and Youth Worker of the year award.
