Deborah Conway and Willy Zeiger, Caiti Baker, William Crighton, Z-Star Trinity (UK), Jack Carty and Gus Gardiner, Perch Creek and Hot Potato Band are just some of the acts announced to join Justin Townes Earle, Lior, Lillie Mae, Thando, Tangents and the Hi Tops Brass Band.
Now in its fourth year Bello Winter Music is an intimate, family-friendly event that spreads across 14 different venues throughout the town and has sold out each year.
This is a festival where you go to discover new music from across the globe and Australia in a village setting.
The program is diverse, quirky and full of surprises including one-off performances that encourage collaboration between artists.
The emphasis is on great live music and a friendly, inclusive, community atmosphere.
It’s little wonder that Bello Winter Music has been so wholeheartedly embraced by music lovers of all persuasions and is a favourite festival to play for musicians.
“Bello Winter Music does not limit itself to one genre. We truly believe there is something for everybody,” says festival programmer Kate Atkinson.
“We love that in one venue there can be three singers huddled around one mic singing gorgeous harmonies to an entranced crowd, and a venue up the road is absolutely thumping to an eight piece dub band.
“When I’m asked to recommend what to see at Bello, I say “everything” because the program is all about the whole experience and discovery.
“There’s so much I am personally excited about, including The Northern Folk, a 10-piece folk band with a brass section.
“Their gigs can go from beautiful, hushed moments with incredible harmonies, to having you up and dancing, all within one song.
“Dave Dondero was named by National Public Radio as one of the world’s top living songwriters and there’s very good reason for this. We feel very fortunate to have him at the festival.
“We have some incredible bands to get you dancing; China Beach, an 8-piece garage disco, freaky funk band and Brisbane crew Astro Travellers. Their live shows are going to be off the hook! Classically trained jazz musicians playing contemporary hip hop sounds topped off by the commanding vocal work of Roman MC (Bullhorn) and Tiana Khasi.
“Get ready to dance! The Morrisons are a seriously fun 10 piece bluegrass band and Masco Sound System bring us their unique ‘analogue dance music’ delivering a whole lot of fun and energy, all with a live improvised painting happening on stage”.
Tickets for the musical adventure that is Bello Winter Music are now on sale but be quick as the festival sells out each year.
