Dorrigo Guernseys win awards

For Sydney Royal Guernsey judge Brad Frohloff, there was plenty to like in the show ring as Guernsey breeders exhibited their dairy cows.

Mr Frohloff described his pick for senior champion female as a magnificent profile for the Guernsey breed, the most correct among her competition.

MeadowVale Mentor Joyful, a five calver, was exhibited by Julie and Michael Moore from Dorrigo.

Mentor Joyful was also selected for best senior udder.

Julie Moore said her show history had included being placed reserve senior champion at Sydney last year.

The cow is currently producing 25 litres per day and is on track to produce about 8000 litres for this lactation.

Honorable mention was presented to MeadowVale SB Canon exhibited by Julie Moore.

From 30 exhibits, the MeadowVale team of seven head took out the Reserve Junior Champion, Intermediate Champion and Best Udder, Senior Champion and Best Uddered and Honorable Mention Senior Cow.

Other awards were Dam’s Progeny, Pen of Three, in which they were placed first and second, Pen of Five and then the Champion Cow, MeadowVale Mentor Joyful, was named the Champion Fat + Protein Kgs of all Breeds.

To cap it off, they also took out Most Successful Guernsey Breeder and Exhibitor awards and Best Maintained Team over Five Head.
