A spokesperson from NSW Justice says that Bellingen Courthouse is closed until further notice while a structural engineer and heritage expert carry out building inspections as the result of termite damage which has impacted walls in the registry, records room, public waiting areas and Magistrate’s Chambers.

Their assessment will determine the extent of the damage and identify what remediation work needs to be carried out to fix the problem.
As a result, sittings for April 4 have been transferred to Coffs Harbour Local Courthouse. All parties and stakeholders are currently being advised including police and the local council.
