Messages of love were unashamedly written on cardboard hearts and hung in the foyer of Bellingen Library for all to see. There were over 80 written messages for Bellingen library alone, which included a quarter of the messages praising the helpful staff and the other three quarters showing their appreciation for library services and programs.
Shire Librarian Surinder Kaur said the staff were thrilled to receive such glowing compliments, noting that the wide variety of activities includes computer classes, childrens activities, handcrafts, author talks and book clubs.
“Last week a six hour workshop at Urunga Library on Coptic stitch book-binding was so popular we had to set up a waiting list,” Ms Kaur said. “Following the success of this workshop, we have now organised a Junk Journal workshop to be held at Bellingen Library from April 5-6.”
Junior Book Club
Deputy Mayor Cr Steve Klipin announced the top four Summer Reading Challengers as the ‘Library Ambassadors’ who will lead the newly announced Junior Book club program.
The children were presented with a certificate by Cr Klipin in recognition of their achievement.
“Our children are so excited for this new program, that we had to get behind them,” said one of the parents who is volunteering to help run the program.
Initially only four sessions a year were offered by the library but the children and parents asked for the number of days to be doubled.
The Junior book club is open to primary school children aged eight years or over and the scheduled dates to meet are 21 March, 9 May, 27 June, 8 August, 19 September, 31 October and 5 December, 2018.
These dates are on the library website at www.crl.nsw.gov.au and on library’s Facebook page
