This inspection will inform the long term maintenance project which the community is currently being consulted on.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane across the bridge between 9.15am to 3.30pm on Thursday March 15 for the investigation work to be carried out.
Traffic control will be in place and motorists are advised to drive to conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
The local community are also reminded they have until Friday March 16 to make comment on the review of environmental factors (REF) for the upcoming maintenance work which will include repainting the heritage-listed Raleigh Bridge.
To allow for the repainting work to be carried out safely and efficiently, Roads and Maritime is proposing to close the bridge for the duration of the work, which may take nine to 12 months, depending on the weather.
However, as part of the proposed work plan, school buses would have access across the bridge during the morning and afternoon periods.
Full details of the maintenance project are available at www.rms.nsw.gov.au/raleighbridge
Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
