Urunga Surf Life Saving Club were crowned best Masters competitors in country NSW at the state titles in Swansea Belmont on March 7-8.

Not only did Urunga finish as the top country club, with 54 points it came a creditable 22nd overall out of 59 clubs.
All 10 competitors returned home with medals in very competitive racing.
Ken Cook led the charge in the individual races winning two gold in the 70+ surf swim and rescue tube and Mark Sutton was just pipped in a tight finish to win bronze in the 55-59 single ski race.
Jim McCullagh was a standout in the beach events, winning three bronze medals in the 60+ sprint, flags and 1km sand run.
The club’s strength shone through in teams racing with Neil Charles and Nathan Steele winning gold in the 50-54 double ski race, Mark Sutton and Steve Steward silver in the 55-59 double ski. Club Captain Tim Rodgers also teamed up with Ty and Brad Cook to collect bronze in the 45-49 ski relay.
A fantastic effort from a small but committed and talented group. They have again put Urunga on the surf lifesaving map!
The masters results were:
Ken Cook – 2 gold in 70+ swim and tube.
Nathan Steele and Neil Charles – 1 gold in 50+ double ski.
Steve Steward & Mark Sutton – 1 silver in the 55+ double ski.
Tim Rodgers, Ty Cook and Brad Cook – 1 bronze in 45+ ski relay.
Jim McCullagh – 3 bronze in 60+ sprint, flags and 1km sand run.
