This comprises of a very large, industrial SHED of concrete block construction that is to house the boats of two paddling/rowing clubs, being Coffs Coast Dragon Boat Club and the Coffs Rowing Club. This was to placed at the western side of the Bowling club on the edge of the oval. Large Eucalypt trees were to be removed to place this shed. This is the first thing people would have seen upon entering the village.
Rightly, the residents were upset. Mostly due to the complete lack of consultation. The DA was on display in Bellingen and advertised in the Courier Sun. The residents of Mylestom do not have the paper delivered and if they wish can pick it up at the local shop. As this was a major DA affecting the residents why was it not put on the counter of the local Post Office as used to occur? The absolute majority of residents did not see this notice.
The two clubs involved did not advertise widely to hold an information night at all. In fact the recent information night, post approval, was advertised via facebook only a couple of days prior the night. This clearly is not good enough
Our village is not a suitable place for such a shed
As both clubs are Coffs Harbour based, why are they not lobbying Coffs Harbour Council for a site for their storage shed?
Our understanding is that the DA has approval for five years. Why?
