It’s been a hot summer for owners Breana and Byron Vinecombe and the Black Bear team in more ways than one. Let’s find out why.
Things have been hotting up at the Black Bear Cafe since their revamp and launch of a sumptuous menu. Customers have flocked in, making this the place to be in Bellingen.
“It’s been one of our busiest summers,” said owner Breana. “It’s been non-stop since Christmas.”
With a tasty menu, great ambience and friendly service, it’s not hard to see why.
The new menu showcases more of the shire’s fantastic produce than ever before.
There’s Black Angus from the Promised Lands thanks to the Thorn Butcher boys, fantastic micro herbs and flowers from Nambucca Aquaponics, fresh lettuce thanks to their friend Jimmy, Bonville mushrooms, Port Macquarie free range eggs and Hearthfire sourdough.
Try the Thai inspired salad with free-range chicken shredded through an Asian crunchy slaw and finished with a coriander and lime dressing.
Both the food and drinks menu cater to most dietary requirements. Besides the normal milks the drink menu offers soy, coconut, almond, macadamia AND lactose-free milks, the breakfast and lunch menus also providing many gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.
The warmer weather brought new opening hours with the Café open seven days a week. After the holidays, they will be going back to trading six days a week, closing on Mondays.
Sourcing beautiful cold smoked salmon from Bellingen smokehouse and all salad greens coming in directly from their friend Jimmie’s farm in Boambee.
To complement the delicious menu is the Black Bear’s brand new collaboration with Sydney coffee roasters Will & Co.
Will & Co.’s signature 808 blend coffee is brewed through a unique glass panelled coffee machine. The coffee beans are grown in rich volcanic soil giving them a smooth caramel finish.
After something a little different? They also make their own blended chai and turmeric teas. There is a selection of teas from Coffs Harbours’ “Little Birdie” or you can try the spiced cacao, a perfect blend of Rainbow chai spices and rich cacao, a not so naughty hot chocolate.
Not only delicious food to savour, but a great space to kick back, relax and enjoy the large wall murals featuring local flora. It brings together the entirely redesigned back dining area, complete with a new bench seating layout.
Purpose-built benches, made by a local carpenter, give seating options for large or small groups and make the area more accessible.
