She shares it with Vilma Neill, both of them aged 86, and both regulars on the greens.
“I love my golf, I started playing about 40 years ago down at Macksville,” Maggie said.
“It was a social thing, we took a picnic and had our morning tea under the trees. There were six of us and Sue King and I became really keen.
“We played every week and when she moved to Armidale, we used to visit each other to play – they were great golfing days.
“I moved to Bellingen when I retired to be close to all the music here. I play golf on Mondays and Thursdays … it keeps me fit and moving, you have to keep moving – I’ve nursed old people and I know it is best to push yourself sometimes.
“The course here is beautiful, right on the flood plain, so they can’t do anything with it. Together with the playing fields opposite, it makes for a lovely entrance to the town.”
