Mikalya has been invited to perform for the Ekka and Royal Sydney Shows. She’ll entertain the crowds between sections in the Main Ring throughout Saturday.
At 9am Saturday, the Showjumping events begin.
Admire the Thoroughbreds, Guy Fawkes Heritage, and Arabs in Ring 1, Brumbies, Stock, and Quarter Horses in Ring 2, and Ponies and Miniature Ponies in Ring 3.
The Dorrigo Show’s Woodchop Competition is also a must see.
The Dorrigo Plateau was famous for its cedar and rosewood logging and the tradition continues. Dressed in team colours, the axemen will make the chips fly. See them compete from 10am on Saturday morning.
Kids can join in a Treasure Hunt at 10am and everyone can guessing the weight of the fat bullock for $100 prize money for the correct answer.
Don’t forget to snare a ticket for the Raffle.
Prizes include two nights for a family of four at Blue Dolphin Resort, Yamba or Waterfall Way Farm Stay, Dorrigo. Plus, there are plenty of $100 vouchers to be won so you can choose your favourite item at a local shop.
Get yourself a ringside seat at 2pm Saturday to see the Grand Parade and Official Opening. This year Peter Feros, owner of the Heritage Hotel Motel Dorrigo, will do the honours and formally open the Show.
If you’re serious about farming, you’ll know the importance of spreading lime on your fields to balance the soil. Thanks to sponsors Sibelco, BGA, and SHR Quarry there will be an auction of 32 tonnes of Aglime on Saturday, straight after the Grand Parade at 2.15pm.
On Saturday afternoon from 2.30pm see the kelpies and cattle dogs flaunt their skills herding sheep and steers at the Bush Dog Trials.
Around 4pm, there’s a whip cracking competition for the kids, while adults can join in the Farmers’ Challenge. Form a team of four and test your abilities at tyre flipping, wheelbarrow racing, spud spelling, gumboot tossing, and other essential farming skills.
On Saturday afternoon and Sunday, horse riders will be competing in Heritage Horse Challenge, and Australian Stock Horse Challenge. Family favourites are the harness and novelty events.
Popular local band, The Refreshments will be entertaining the crowds throughout Saturday evening from 4pm. Everyone is sure to love the fireworks display at 8.15pm on Saturday.
On Sunday bright and early take part in the Fun Run with registration at 7am.
Sideshow Alley with all the fun carnival rides opens at 9am and you can check out the Ute Show at 10am.
At 10.30am the brass band and Dorrigo Public School Choir are set to perform for spectators.
The Pet Show will held at 11.30am and Pony Club events start at 12.30pm.
At 1pm catch the Ute Parade and Ute Challenges followed by the motor bike time trials from 2pm.
