The popular Versatility 5s competition was played on August 8 with the team of Jean Connor, Gloria Christian, Faye Puckeridge, Elaine Cameron and Margot Brown (pictured) coming in clear winners on 94 points. Second place went to Janine Brown, Bev Cloake, Jo Bathgate, Gai Bailey and Pat Chapman on 72 points.

Urunga's Triples champions, Helen Fisher, Jo Bathgate and Lynne Tarrant, continued their top form on August 7 at the Stuart's Point Triples when they were placed second just one point behind the winning team of Judy Monks, Janice Brown and Elaine Tindall. Once again Urunga was well represented with four of our teams attending this prestige event.
Bowlers who have not won a major singles or pairs championship are reminded that entries close on August 19 for the Elaine Hetherington Coach's Cup which will be played on Saturday August 26. The day takes the form of 3 bowl pairs sets play and is a unique event consisting of three games, each consisting of two sets of seven ends. Total prize money is $750 and the winners names are engraved on the perpetual trophy. Entry is $20 which includes morning tea and lunch.
On Tuesday August 8 Urunga lady bowlers gathered for lunch to say farewell to popular bowler Ann Pilkington who is moving to Western Australia with husband Philip to be closer to family. Ann has been a champion bowler at the Urunga club and also a member of the winning Grade 3 Pennants side in 2013. She will be greatly missed by all her bowling friends.
